Entertaining Your Guests At A Baby Animal Themed Baby Shower

By: Charlene (store owner) | Category: Baby Shower, Baby Shower Games

Once you’ve got your baby animal themed baby shower planned, the last thing left is to decide how you will entertain your guests.   Baby shower games are a long held tradition and can be anything from pencil and pen games to silly games.    Here are some animal themed suggestions:

Name the baby animal :

Type up a list of animals on a piece of paper Number beside the animals and leave blank. Explain to guests that they need to write down the baby names of that animal. It is a lot harder than they will expect it to be! Here is an example list to start you out:

Lion – cub
Elephant – calf
Monkey – infant
Deer – fawn
Frog – tadpole (or polliwog)
Goat – kid
Goose – gosling
Fish – fry

How long is pregnancy?

Pregnancy for women can feel like forever sometimes. But, in the animal kingdom some animals are pregnant a whole lot longer than nine months. List animals down one side of a piece of paper.

On the other side list the amount of days a typical animal is pregnant. The guests must match the correct animal to the amount of time they are pregnant. Everyone will start feeling sorry for the poor things that are pregnant longer than a year!

Diapering Game:

This is a traditional baby shower game with a twist.  The idea is to see who can diaper the baby the fastest, but in this case, guests will rush to diaper their baby animal the fastest.  The competition can be between a few volunteers or can be done in rounds.  This is a really great one to have the guys do if the shower is co-ed.

Planning an A Star Is Born Theme Baby Shower

By: Charlene (store owner) | Category: Baby Shower

The A Star Is Born baby shower theme is a fun twist on the traditional moon and stars baby shower theme.   It is made even easier by the fact that most supplies for moon and star baby showers also work wonderfully for the A Star Is Born theme.

For decorations and tableware, choose items that feature a star.  Many items are available for decorating here are a few of our favorites:

An “A Star is Born Diaper Cake” makes a great centerpiece

Star shaped balloons mixed in with pink, blue, yellow, and/or green balloons add a festive feel.

Small glow in the dark stars scattered around on the tables will add an element of fun, especially if the room is dimmed  a little add a nice touch of ambiance.

Some children have lights that shine stars on the ceiling, one of these makes a really fun touch, or get mom one as part of her baby gift.

For your baby shower invitations, anything featuring stars will work wonderfully.  You can even ask the company you order them from to put the caption “A Star Is Born” at the top.

Tomorrow we’ll have food and cake ideas!

Pink or Blue We Welcome You Baby Shower Theme – Games and Entertainment.

By: Charlene (store owner) | Category: Baby Shower, Baby Shower Games

You are all set now for your Pink or Blue We Welcome You themed baby shower.  Now you only need to determine what you will do for entertainment.  Here are a few of our suggestions:

Games:

Baby Shower Body Parts Game – Practice Reading Ultrasounds with this fun baby game.

I Remember Mommy Game – See who knows mommy best

Sweet Mess – the dirty diaper guessing game.

Other entertainment:

Since Mommy doesn’t know whether it’ll be a boy or a girl, try out some of the many old traditions for figuring out the gender of a baby.  Guests will be laughing and having a great time trying out these great ideas and sharing their own traditions.

Have an advice tree, give each of the guests a 3×5 card or a note of advice card and ask them to give the new mommy advice on being a parent.  They can then hang their advice on the tree

Having a wishing well where guests can put their wishes for the new baby and new mommy.

Pink or Blue We Welcome You Theme Baby Shower – Decorating

By: Charlene (store owner) | Category: Baby Shower

Now that you have your food all scoped out for your pink or blue we welcome you baby shower, it’s time to consider how you will decorate for the big event.   There are many options for decorating in this theme, just remember to stick to the colors and your set.  Here are some of our favorite ideas:

  • Decorate with pink and blue flowers.  For blue flowers, purchase white carnations and place them in water colored with blue food coloring overnight.
  • Decorate with pink and blue balloons.  To add an extra special touch, use baby bottles filled with pink and blue tissue or another baby item to keep them from floating away.
  •  Scatter pink and blue baby shaped ornaments around or pink and blue confetti.
  • Hang pink and blue baby clothes around the room
  • Place a pretty pink and blue diaper cake on the table

By: Charlene (store owner) | Category: Baby Shower
Yesterday we discussed how to find baby shower invitations, tableware, and favors for the Pink or Blue We Welcome You themed baby shower.   Today we’ve got some fantastic ideas for feeding your guests!  Click the photos to access complete directions for each treat!

Finger Foods:

Pink Elephant Popcorn

Pink Elephant Popcorn - to make this perfect for pink or blue, make two batches of popcorn, make the first as directed, for the second choose a blue, berry flavored gelatin.  Once they are dry mix the two together.

Sugar Plums

Sugar Plums

Again, make two batches, 1 set with the red gelatins, and 1 with blue gelatins.

Tickled Pink Pickled Eggs

Tickled Pink Pickled Eggs

 Smoked Salmon Deviled Eggs

Blue Hardboiled Eggs: Boil and peel an egg. Put a drop or two of blue food coloring in a cup of water, stir it, then set the egg in it. The water should cover the egg. Let it soak, checking every 10 minutes to see if the color has deepened to the shade you want. I find pale

Blue Cornbread – Substitute blue cornmeal instead of regular cornmeal in your favorite cornbread recipe

Blue Corn Tortilla Chips

Blue or Pink Bread – Make a favorite bread recipe, but add red or blue food coloring before kneading, enough to turn it the desired color.

Desserts or Snacks (other than cake):

Raspberries in Champagne Gelatin

Fruit cups with strawberries and blueberries

Blueberry Kiwi Tarts

Beverages:

Raspberry Peach Smoothie

 Fruity Tea Punch (Pink)

Pink Lemonade

Meal Ideas:

Pink Tarragon Cream Dressing

While you could easily substitute blue food coloring instead of the red, we’d recommend stinking with pink  for this one.

Shrimp Luncheon Sandwiches - Pretty Pink

Raspberry Chicken Salad in Mini Pitas (pink)

Spiced Blueberry Soup

Blue or Pink dorayaki – Made just like regular dorayaki, except you add blue or red food coloring to the batter, and fry the cakes on low heat so the browning doesn’t obscure the color too much. There will be some browning, but it should be light enough tan that the blue shines through, especially on the bubbly side. The frying surface should be hot enough that water sizzles on it but not hot enough to make it skitter around, and turn the cakes as soon as they look done.

Blue or Pink Noodles – Add food coloring to the water while it cooks,  you’ll need to be very generous with the food coloring.

Blue or Pink rice in Sushi – Make rice as usual but add food coloring just before you add the water.  Proceed to make sushi as you normally would

Tomorrow we’ll treat you with Pink or Blue We Welcome You Themed Cakes!

Let’s start with your baby shower invitations,  any pink or blue invitation will work wonderfully, and you’ll have no trouble finding one.  Once you do find one, you can either use it as it is, or request the printer change the text to read “Pink or Blue We Welcome You” (not all companies are willing to change the text, but many will).   Below are some examples that we think work wonderfully for this theme.    Cute As A Button Pink and Blue Baby Shower Invitation

Welcome Baby Shower Invitations in Pink and Blue

Once you’ve ordered your baby shower invitations, it’s time to pick out your tableware and favors.  For tableware, order an assortment of pink and blue.  For instance, order half of your plates in baby blue, and half in pink, and then alternate them when you stack them, do the same with your cups, forks, knives, spoons, and napkins, and you’ll have a beautiful display.  Next come the baby shower party favors.  You can choose favors to match your invitations, or find some cute themed baby shower favors.  You can find a few of our favorite Pink Or Blue We Welcome You baby shower favors by clicking here.
